Practice session: Driver feedback

I think this will help those on the team new to the game get an understanding of where to go with practice set-ups.

I don't feel like this is "secret information" as a google search finds lots of places where the below is listed.

Wings
+3 I am really missing a lot of speed in straights
+2 The car is lacking some speed in the straights
+1 The car could have a bit more speed in the straights
-1 I am missing a bit of grip in the curves
-2 The car is very unstable in many corners
-3 I cannot drive the car, there's no grip on it

Engine
+3 No, no, no!!! Favour a lot more the low revs!
+2 The engine revs are too high
+1 Try to favour a bit more the low revs
-1 I feel that I do not have enough engine power in the straights
-2 The engine power on the straights is not sufficient
-3 You should try to favour a lot more the high revs

Brakes
+3 Please, move the balance a lot more to the back
+2 I think the brakes effectiveness could be higher if we move the balance to the back
+1 Put the balance a bit more to the back
-1 I would like to have the balance a bit more to the front
-2 I think the brakes effectiveness could be higher if we move the balance to the front
-3 I would feel a lot more comfortable to move the balance to the front

Gear
+3 Please, put a lot lower ratio between gears
+2 The gear ratio is too high (?)
+1 I cannot take advantage of the power of the engine. Put the gear ratio a bit lower
-1 I am very often in the red. Put the gear ratio a bit higher
-2 The gear ratio is too low
-3 It feels like the engine is going to explode. Put a lot higher ratio between gears

Suspension
+3 The car is far too rigid. Lower a lot the rigidity
+2 The suspension rigidity is too high
+1 The car is too rigid. Lower a bit the rigidity
-1 I think with a bit more rigid suspension I will be able to go faster
-2 The suspension rigidity is too low
-3 The suspension rigidity should be a lot higher

for the benefit our new team members I'll elaborate further.

Let's look at wings feedback:
firstly we'll say my happy zone is 80
what this means is, the gap between a +1 feedback message and a -1 feedback message is 80.

A +1 or -1 message could be anywhere from 1 to 79 points away from no feedback.
A +2 or -2 message could be anywhere from 80 to 159 points away from no feedback.
A +3 or -3 message could be anywhere from 160 to 239 points away from no feedback.

Getting back to a no feedback response can be done many different ways.
As you only get 8 laps it's ideal to get this back to no feedback as quick as you can.

For a +1/-1 message you are usually safe in going with half of your happy zone. so 40 points either added or subtracted depending on feedback.

A+2/-2  happy zone + half happy zone so 80+40 =120 * I do this because I know I'm almost certain to be more than 80 points away from no feedback and I want to get to this point as fast as possible.

A +3/-3 happy zone +happy zone +half zone 80+80+40 = 200. for the same reason as above. your likely to be 160 points away from no feedback.

When in the no feed back zone 1-79
Your "perfect" fastest point is half of your happy zone. which for this example would be 40.
This is only effective or at it's peak if you've found the edge of your range

So the goal is to find the last figure that gives a +1 / -1 message
eg: @565 wings I got a +1 message - @564 I got a no feed back response.
My perfect set up point for the wings would then be 525.

i found that same info in a guide, but it had the following after it which i think explains it a little different to how you did.

If the comment appear to the degree of discontent -1, then we increase the setting to an amount equal to half of the DR pilot. If the comment appear to the degree of discontent -2,
then increase the setting to an amount equal to the value of DR pilot. Accordingly, with the + sign reduce the setting to the desired value. If the pilot does not comment or satisfied
with the settings, then change the setting in any direction by an amount equal to half the DR pilot.

got stuck on the range between feedback states and not what would get you back in a no feedback response. I've adjusted the above post

Nice one Shannon, I think this is the most important thing that a rookie needs to get their head around before they start to see good results...
It's the most basic way to gain speed, after working this out, then you move onto tyre strategies, drivers, training etc and it gets more complicated again.
